At GMP Networks, we pre-install all software and hardware prior to bringing it onsite. To do this, we make extensive use of a Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environment. The environment can simulate a customer’s network using Linux virtual machines to act as routers and Windows machines on which to install software. The physical environment includes an Intel i7 computer with 12 GB of RAM functioning as a core Hypervisor machine. There is also a server with 4 GB of RAM which runs a Citrix XEN virtual environment. There are also three other servers running as a domain controller, a web server and a database server. Recently in our lab, we have functionally represented an entire enterprise network for the off-site configuration of new Cisco firewalls. We have installed Symantec Enterprise Vault with eDiscovery and demonstrated file archiving and discovery cases. We have stood up and configured open source storage area networks, delivering them implementation ready to the client. In addition to project preparation, the GMP Networks laboratory is used for live product presentations as well as product evaluations.
